Reading Response

I resonated deeply with what Alt’s argument that computation became a medium when the concepts of medium and interface were implicitly embedded in computation at the material level of the programming language itself. Object orientation is not only a way of thinking about computation but also leads computation as a medium. The author refers it as the “medialization” of computation, which I think it’s much easier to understand. As was doing more research on object-oriented programming, I found it was such a convenient tool for modeling highly complex systems. As I started to use it in my own project, I thought the way object-oriented programming simplified and condensed my codes.

Creative Coding

Halloween is coming! To create randomness with instances, I used the ‘random’ and ‘variables’ to make the white circles in the background flashing to generate a spooky look. Also, the eyes and the stem of the pumpkin change colors randomly with the texts floating. I wanted to make the ellipse move randomly too, but as I tried to change the variables I falied. I think it will look more spooky with the face flashing as well.
