Snowflake Role Queries

This is the fourth article in the series.

Till now I have written about creating users, roles, and granting privileges. It is easier to see these details in the role hierarchy in the snowflake WebUI, but how can you make sure the privileges are granted correctly, or which role should be used to create a warehouse.

For that, I am listing down the queries that one can use to understand it better.

It will show all the roles which are granted to the user

role granted to user

2) show grants on account or show grants on the snowflake object.

Lists all privileges that have been granted on the object or account.

if you want to know the privileges assigned to user/role use “to

4) show grants of role/share

list all the users and role to which the role has been granted. So if you want to know the user/role to which the role has been granted use “of”

Other than the above commands if one wants to know what are the common privileges possible in a database/schema/table.

Database privileges
Table Privileges

Above are the most common SQL queries which can be used to understand the role and its assigned privileges and all the possible privileges for a snowflake object.
