The cell phone trap

Checking phones at the table, dinners getting cold. Just one more like, another minute to scroll.

Pics of my food, a snap of me and my bestie, this whole time on my phone, not really investing.

Real convos have ceased- living life through a touch screen. Lol’s and emojis, texting faster than lightning.

Look at me and my life, it’s just so amazing, but the truth is I’m tethered- addicted in slavery.

But I love my phone, I can email and shop, check on bank statements to see what I’ve got.

My phone is my life, look how much I get done. But really? No really.. is it all that much fun?

But I’ve got so much friends and stories to post, of meals that I’m eating and drinks that I toast.

My followers love me, have you seen all my likes? Constructed identities, a shade of a life.

What happened to the days of slow conversations, real interactions, faces to faces?

The places we’ve been and precious moments in time- kept safe in our hearts, only for you and I.
